Vegetation
Management

RAC Forestry specialises in large-scale vegetation clearance, addressing the challenges posed by trees and overgrown vegetation near roads, motorways and utility lines. These environments require precision, safety, and efficiency to ensure minimal disruption to infrastructure and public use. Our services are supported by cutting-edge machinery and a team of certified professionals, allowing us to tackle even the most complex projects with confidence.

With advanced equipment such as the Ufkes Greentech 952 Mega Chipper and Vosch grapple saws mounted on Hyundai excavators, we are capable of safely dismantling, processing, and removing large trees and dense vegetation. This ensures that our operations are not only effective but also environmentally responsible, recovering materials for biomass production wherever possible. Our work prioritises safety, compliance, and sustainability, making RAC Forestry a trusted partner in highways vegetation management.

Certifications and Compliance

At RAC Forestry, we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and environmental responsibility. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our certifications and adherence to industry-leading standards.

These certifications highlight our unwavering dedication to providing professional, compliant, and dependable services in highways vegetation management and beyond. They serve as a testament to our capability to handle even the most demanding projects with precision and care.

We operate under the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification, which sets the benchmark for quality management systems. This certification demonstrates our dedication to continuous improvement, ensuring that all our processes, from project planning to execution, are efficient, consistent, and meet the highest quality standards.

We are also proud to be a Constructionline Gold Member, which verifies our competency, governance, and adherence to health and safety legislation. This membership gives our clients confidence that RAC Forestry meets rigorous industry requirements and is committed to delivering services that prioritise safety and reliability.

In addition, RAC Forestry fully complies with the National Highway Sector Scheme (NHSS 18), a specialised certification tailored for the highways industry. This scheme ensures that our services for highways vegetation management, including roadside tree clearance and biomass operations, are delivered to exacting safety and quality standards. Our NHSS 18 compliance underscores our expertise in working in complex and high-risk environments, particularly along motorways and utilities

  • Utility Line Maintenance

Expertise and Equipment

With the addition of the Ufkes Greentech 952 Mega chipper, RAC Forestry has significantly enhanced its ability to manage roadside vegetation, particularly Ash trees affected by dieback. This powerful machine handles trees up to 12m in height and 50cm in diameter. Equipped with a grapple saw mounted on its crane, the chipper allows for safe and efficient dismantling of trees, which are then directly fed into the onboard chipper. The resulting wood chip is stored in its integrated bin for transport to nearby stockpiles or lorries for onward processing.
This machine was custom-built to UK specifications, enabling it to operate efficiently in line with traffic flow, whether on motorway hard shoulders or single-lane A or B roads. Its design facilitates a one-man, one-machine operation, making it the safest and most efficient method for roadside vegetation management.

For larger trees, RAC Forestry utilises Vosch grapple saws mounted on 14-tonne and 25-tonne Hyundai excavators. These machines are fitted with rubber track pads to prevent damage to tarmac surfaces and are capable of safely dismantling trees up to 20m tall. The larger excavator includes a detachable extension crane boom for extended reach and precision.

By investing in cutting-edge equipment and maintaining industry-leading certifications, RAC Forestry is the trusted choice for large-scale highways vegetation management.
